Ducab brings global training & certification sessions on high-quality, fire-rated cabling products to India

Industrial and safety experts from (Dubai Cable Company Pvt Ltd) Ducab, the UAE-based leading manufacturer of high-quality cabling solutions, conducted first of its planned series of fire safety seminars about the importance of selecting certified Fire Performance cables and cabling accessories in New Delhi. With nearly 4 decades of experience in partnering with mega projects across the globe, Ducab is now pioneering its globally-recognized PowerOverFire campaign in India to showcase its fire certified cables for the ambitious Smart City power networks.

Having supplied cabling solutions throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Africa, Ducab’s expertise includes infrastructure applications across the Construction, Defence, Public Transport, Fire Safety, Utilities, Mining, Railways, Renewable Energy, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, and Marine sectors. With a client portfolio in India that includes L&T, ABB, Siemens, as well as a project expansion of the Delhi Metro (DMRC), Ducab is continuing its legacy to service the Indian market and support the Indian manufacturing sector by importing certain raw materials into UAE that are made in India. The Indian electrical industry secures volumes of its annual copper wire requirement from international manufacturers, and Ducab’s plant in Abu Dhabi provides a full 25% share of this market.

Ducab’s PowerOverFire seminar is a certificate Continuing Professional Development course conducted free of charge for developers, design consultants, contractors, and senior engineers in the electrical and civil defence industry to understand the dangers of choosing uncertified cabling. The knowledge-sharing seminar highlights the current British Standards for Fire Performance cables, incorporating a guide for the correct selection and installation of FirePerformance power and control cable systems, for life safety and firefighting applications. Participation in the seminar was by invitation only, and all the attendees received a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certificate.

The Ducab PowerOverFire technical education seminars were led by Ashish Chaturvedy, and Tom Roberts, responsible for Fire Performance Business Development, and supported by Shailendra Singh for sales development at Ducab.

Commenting on the seminar, Ashish Chaturvedy, responsible for Marketing at Ducab, said, “Consciousness about high quality cables is growing in India, a strategic region which is embracing diversified business opportunities with the UAE. Ducab’s operations in India are bolstered by its support to India’s ‘Smart City’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives, in which the company sees huge transformative potential. Ducab is always open to speaking with like-minded Indian businesses and is constantly seeking growth opportunities, organic and otherwise, for future business development.”

Ducab’s specialized range of LPCB certified FirePerformance and fire-retardant cables, branded FlamBICC, adheres to stringent standards adopted by the civil defence and standardization authorities the world over. If a fire occurs, it is often the cable insulation that generates the most smoke, hindering visibility and causing maximum damage. Eliminating this hazard, Ducab’s FlamBICC is a certified range of low-smoke and halogen-free cables. More details can be found at www.ducabpoweroverfire.com.

Sonam Kapoor, Nagesh Kukoonoor & Raima Sen at day 4 of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival,2016

Bollywood's Kapoor Gal, Sonam Kapoor visited cross maidan yesterday for an interesting event. It was the Living Foodz contest where in the contest winner had a 10 minute DATE with Sonam on stage, with Omar Qureshi as the compeer. The contest winner got to ask Sonam a few questions regarding herself and take pictures galore with her. Surely every man and even maybe woman's dream come true! Inspite of running a high fever, Sonam visited the festival and even went on to say how often she comes to the fest to enjoy the culture and vibe. With a cute dining table set up for the DATE NIGHT, the audience at Cross Maidan only increased, ten-folds, on seeing their favourite star on stage.

On the other hand, Mr Nagesh Kukoonoor had visited the cinema section of the festival, as his short film, LAKSHMI was being aired. The film, revolving around human trafficking and child prostitution is directed, produced, written and even starring Mr Nagesh Kukoonoor himself! Post the screening of the film, Mr Kukoonoor indulged in an interaction with the audience and cinema curator OMAR QURESHI, based on his film and his works over time, answering all the queries raised by the audience. Speaking on the same, here's an interesting bit he said during his interaction,

"You need to do what you believe in. I can't spend a year on a film which I don't believe in. So whenever I make a film, it's out of commitment and joy. I have to enjoy the process of making the film. For me, the joy ends when I finish the film. I am very clear with the kind of films I want to make, and I've stuck to that. A lot of times people get confused between simple and simplistic. The heroism that women depict comes in forms like this movie, that is quiet and simple and not over powering. After Lakshmi, such an intense film showing the cruel world out there, my next is definitely going to be a relaxed film. "

Bollywood and critically acclaimed actress RAIMA SEN, visited the Cinema section of the festival for a talk with Omar Qureshi, after which she was seen enjoying the festival.
With several new instillations in the street section throughout the festival, sending strong messages out to society, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, 2016, certainly is back with a bang and there's only more to expect in the coming days!

  •  Puppet Show at Museum Gardens from 11.00am-9.00pm (with breaks)- The string puppets, or marionettes as they are called too, of Rajasthan have carved a niche for themselves in folk art. Made of wood, clothes and cotton, these figurines have glittering facial make-up of oil paints and their costumes drag on the floor of the stage. All the movements of the puppets are controlled through about five-six threads that they are hanging by from the fingers of the puppeteers. Tugging these strings to the tune of percussion, the puppeteers are able to create spectacular movements and actions to bring alive the story being narrated. These Puppeteers have their own portable stage that can be installed quickly. Their performances are always accompanied by instruments including the Pipari - a wind instrument made of bamboo chip and rubber and Dholak - much like a drum. The most popular characters include the Dholkiwala (Drum Beater), Saap-Sapera (Snake & Snake charmer), Gendh Wali (Round Ball), Bahurupia (Imitator),  Pattebaz (Card player), Anarkali (Dancer) and Jadugar (Magician). AMAR SINGH RATHORE is the most popular amongst the traditional puppeteers.

They meander through the streets and go from one group of spectators to another. The Baharupia is an actor, singer, designer, performer - all packed into one. With his individual brand of humour, he presents an interesting take. His characters such as Narad, Gadulia Lohar, Sethji and Bohara Attarwala have become very popular.
  • KACHIGHODI at Rampart Road from 4.00-9.00pm- Kuchchighodi is a folk dance largely associated with marraige festivities among the Bavaria, Kumhar and Sargara communities of Rajasthan. Performed by the menfolk predominantly, it has its roots in the martial traditions of Rajasthan. Four to five persons in the attire of a bridegroom are presented as if riding horses. The horse's body is made up of two bamboo sticks and two baskets covered with trappings and a tastefully decorated woooden head, while a little jute fibre makes its tail. The riders, in flowing colourful garments, move on the stage majestically from one end to the other, enacting a battle scene elegantly brandishing their swords in the air. The horse sometimes appears to be galloping or cantering, and at other times rearing and prancing to the accompaniment of the dhol, jhalar, bankia, or to the songs by the women. The dance concludes with some vigorous movements set to the gallopadic tunes of the musical aids.
